1. Tell us how Zondo came about, what inspired it? How did you come up with the name?

Zondo is a sister company of Sports Creative. Sports Creative has been designing and manufacturing sports products and accessories for the last 6 years for other sports brands, supplement companies, running events such as Dublin Marathon, as well as charities such as the Prince`s Trust, Guide dogs as well as being the official kit supplier for the GB Masters team.

From the experience Sports Creative has gained over the years we have come up with our own brand Zondo after seeing a gap in the market for high quality, high performance and innovative sportswear and accessories. Our MD is an athlete himself with a product design background so by combining the two we have a massive advantage in the market. We wanted to come up with a unique name that we could get the trademarks for easily so we thought of Zondo.

2. How did you design and manufacture the product?

Our previous experience designing a wide range of products from footwear to clothing and accessories has helped us become very capable.

3. Tell us about your Kickstarter campaign. Did anything surprise you with Kickstarter campaign? Any anecdotes to share in creating and running the Kickstarter campaign?

We have experience with Kickstarter as this is our 4th project. All of our previous projects have been fully funded. We have done a lot of research prior our campaign to have a clear marketing strategy of what we were to do when the campaign was launched in order to achieve the best results.

It has been very exciting as a lot of great feedback has been received and lots of our clients have been looking for a solution for years. We found some of the more in depth technical questions challenging, body screening is a very new concept and in the campaign we had to explain it very simply so people understand the mechanics of the fabric. Great customer service is very important to us, answering questions promptly not only guarantees the sale but also ensures the customer that their questions are important to us.

4. How did you create the video for your Kickstarter campaign?

Creating a great video is the most important part of your campaign and you only have a couple of minutes to win over your backers. The video contains 3D animations of the products, explanation from the Raynaud`s experts as well as footage in a snowy environment.

We had lots of fun making the video and learnt a lot from the experts regarding how badly people can be effected and it was very sad to hear that there was no cure for the conditions and the GP`s cannot give a proper solution to the sufferers, which is why this project is so important.

6. Can you share tips for those considering crowdfunding their project? What are some keys to making the campaign successful?

Once you came up with a concept that is purposeful make sure you have a great video, eye catching and simple to understand artwork. Do plenty of market research and prepare a marketing plan that will help you get the idea out there. Make sure your video is exciting and explains your idea well. Social media activities help you boost your visibility that can result in backers.

7. What’s next for Zondo?

We are overwhelmed with the positive feedback we have been getting from backers and also the number of ideas they have given us regarding creating new products. First of all our priority is to start production and deliver the pledges as promised. While production is taking place our design team is considering the ideas of our backers and designing garments that will be released on Kickstarter in the future.
