As WeWork’s first creator community in South China, WeWork CCSS will open on September 1 this year, at Zhongxin Road, Houhai, in Nanshan District, where this will provide local and international talents with pioneering technology and a uniquely designed office environment, while humanizing the way of work and lifestyle. WeWork’s launch in Shenzhen fully demonstrates its dedication to expand in the Chinese market. It is another pivotal moment for leveraging on “Created in China” initiatives. By tapping on its unique global creator community resources, WeWork will further facilitate the growth of Shenzhen’s entrepreneurial ecosystem, while supporting the development of smart cities in Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area, and promoting innovation exchange as well as collaborations among Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macau.

“As the center of the global tech industry and engine for the construction of the Greater Bay Area Shenzhen marks as an important hub for the 21st Century Maritime Silk Road. Fast attracting the most advanced innovation and talents, WeWork will also hold strategic significance as it will now help to provide greater service and support needed for China’s creators,” says Alan Ai, General Manager of WeWork Greater China. “Through its already mature global platform and community resources, WeWork’s launch in Shenzhen will help create stronger foundations for supporting the developments between Guangzhou and Shenzhen made possible through the development and valuable resources of the Greater Bay Area. By supporting China’s continuous reform and district growth, we are confident that WeWork’s presence will also thrive greatly amidst the economic development and modernization of the state governance.”

WeWork CCSS is located at the core of the Houhai Financial Center in the Nanshan District of Shenzhen Bay. As a significantly key feature of the developing Shenzhen “Bay Area Economy” and economic center of Nanshan, Houhai Financial Center, the area has also gathered the likes of Baidu, Alibaba, Tencent, China Aerospace Science and Technology Corporation, China Railway Engineering Corporation and a number of key companies that are converging the force and innovation intelligence in the area. The WeWork CCSS space will witness the rapid development of Shenzhen together with the rest of the companies. In designing the community, WeWork’s design team adhered to bringing out WeWork’s consistent design style, while also drawing inspiration from the surrounding neighborhoods around the community, as part of its efforts in better integrating and complementing the community into the city.

With WeWork CCSS retaining WeWork’s consistent community features, it also demonstrates the unique humanistic characteristics of Shenzhen, especially the Houhai area. Combining warmth through addition of art and graphic pieces, the WeWork design team also complemented materials such as marble, steel and glass walls to resonate the business and technology pace in Shenzhen. At the same time, by providing young creators with a comfortable and warm office environment, this will also help to reduce the sense of alienation and loneliness brought by modern buildings. By selecting the height of wood, material texture, color, art form, etc., the WeWork design team has escalated the level of comfort and coziness through elements such as the open deck and greenery in the space. Combined with a three-story spiral staircase acting as the centerpiece that connects the space, this creates more physical space for the community while promotes mutual communication between members on different floors and effectively enhancing the cohesiveness of the community.

WeWork was founded in 2010 in New York, and is now providing collaborative space and interactive community service in 283 offices to more than 253,000 members from 22 countries and 75 cities around the world, helping them “make a life, not just a living”. Since 2016, WeWork China has been committed to providing local members with an inspiring office environment, shaping the future of work and deepening cooperation with local excellent partners such as Hony Capital, Sino-Ocean Group Holding, Alibaba Group Sesame Credit, SECOO and etc. Coupled with initiatives such as the Creator Awards, the world’s first credit-free community, Powered by We, and Fashion Show by WeWork, the company remains dedicated to its strong commitment towards promoting its “Created in China” campaign.
