Global Expert Insights On Investing In Startups To Be Shared At Startup Investors Forum
Hong Kong, March 16, 2018 | In 2017, venture capital (VC) investment across the world totaled US$155 billion, with Asia-based VC investment recording a yearly high of over US$48 billion. With the market expected to remain robust in 2018, investors are invited to attend Startup Launchpad’s Startup Investors Forum on April 12 at AsiaWorld-Expo, Hong Kong. The forum will bring together over 200 investors in the startup ecosystem, regulators and policymakers, who will share insights on investing in startups and connecting capital with investment opportunities. Another highlight will be the first ever Startup Launchpad Investment Competition in which three finalists will pitch to the most influential investors in Asia for the chance to win US$40 thousand. Startup Investors Forum will be of interest to high net-worth individuals and business owners looking to invest in new ventures, as well as other investors who are looking to diversifying their portfolio.
The forum attended by angels, venture capitalists, private equity investors, family offices and business owners, will feature thought-provoking discussions and Q&A with top investors on trends and strategies used to build high-performing startup portfolios. It will also discuss what the region’s top investors see as opportunities and threats, and how they see the startup ecosystem in Asia evolving in the coming years. Startup investors, especially those who are looking to make their first investments, would find the forum valuable. Attending investors will gain a better understanding of available startup investment structures and how to ensure that their strategies deliver the right level of exposure and acceptable returns.
Visitors can meet with over 300 startups and 250 other investors and executives, find new collaboration partners and get a guided tour of the Startup Launchpad exhibition to see the latest innovative products. “An event like this provides an opportunity for people to exchange ideas, share their experiences, and maybe go back with one or two ideas that they can actually act on in their respective fields,” says Kim Chan, Executive Director of HPI Financial Group.
With the addition of the first ever Startup Launchpad Investment Competition dedicated to early stage startups with working prototypes, Startup Investor Forum is going to be even bigger and better this year. Three finalists will pitch to a room full of Asia’s top investors for a chance to win the grand prize of US$40 thousand in cash, a free kiosk at the Startup Launchpad exhibition, access to networking events with investors, and a startup factory tour in Shenzhen.
“Startup Investors Forum is Asia’s leading and the only event geared towards startup investors,” says Minesh Pore, Director of International Business at Global Sources and Head of Startup Launchpad. “It is clear to see that the opportunities to invest in startups are vast.
