Introducing mutual protection, personal credit and automobile financing products
Beijing, 2 January 2019 – Didi Chuxing, the world’s leading mobile-based transportation platform, today unveiled a financial services module in its China app. The new service now offers, among others, mutual protection and crowdfunding products for critical illnesses, credit and lending, wealth management and auto-financing services.
DiDi officially inaugurated a financial services unit in early 2018 to develop convenient, reliable and licensed financing, mutual protection insurance, payment, wealth management and other diversified financial products to the company’s broad base of passengers, drivers, car-owners and business partners. Prior to the nationwide launch, the in-app services were trialed in 10 cities including Chongqing, Zhengzhou and Foshan.
This initial launch features two groups of services. DiDi protection and credit services provide innovative and reliable personal financial products in an era of new economy and flexible employment. A new health insurance product, for instance, breaks down annual critical illness insurance to lower the entry barrier for gig economy workers and broaden the scope of protection for more families. Other mutual protection and lending services draw on the credit mechanism and data-driven risk control architecture of DiDi as a bilateral transaction platform to provide enhanced financial facility.
Through Auto-financing solutions, the finance arm will work with DiDi’s new auto-solutions business to expand a quality supply base for China’s vibrant mobility market by creating effective links between top-tier drivers and partners and a high-quality supply of new energy vehicles through competitive and reliable purchasing, leasing, trading and financing services. On the whole, financial services are expected to help DiDi build a stronger network of collaboration and shared interests and in turn, a tighter and more efficient transportation ecosystem.
