Ximmerse’s Interview – a New Way to Live in VR
Ximmerse is one of the exhibitors at Global Sources Startup Launchpad (Spring Edition). Let’s see what they have in store for us! Can you tell us about your products?
Our company, Ximmerse, focuses on virtual reality input systems. Traditionally, you can only see things and watch videos in the VR world through your virtual reality headset, but you can’t do anything within it. Given this problem, we designed two products that will let you interact in the VR world.
Our first product is the Flip, a 3DOF controller. This is a basic, entry-level product for VR and it can recognize a user’s hand rotation. After putting on the headset and using the controller, users are free to grab, point or pick up items in the VR world. The second product we have is the Neon, a 6DOF solution. This solution is more advanced, as it is able to accomplish both headset and controller positional tracking, effectively providing users with a more realistic, immersive and compelling VR experience.
The set-up for Neon is simple. All you need to do is position the stereo camera, put on the headset, and you are ready to begin gameplay. All devices will connect automatically on its own for a seamless experience. The stereo camera is extremely powerful and is capable of computing all algorithms on board the device itself. Meanwhile, the controllers are also lightweight and weigh a mere 120g. Thus, the Neon is user friendly and can be used by anyone of any age.
How has the support been for your products? Have you had a lot of positive feedback?
We showed our product for the very first time at CES, the global consumer electronics and consumer technology tradeshow, in Las Vegas this year. We received glowing feedback and support. From that event, we received a lot of commercial orders.
We have already gone global. We also produced several hundred for our developer last November, and they have created several education applications and games for this product. As you can see, we are not restricted by the commercial industry – there are no boundaries to the use of our controllers and the virtual reality world.
What are you looking to next for your products?
We are hoping to make our products part of a business model. We are looking to work with VR headset manufacturers or companies that will sell our products together with the headsets.
