Alibaba Entrepreneurs Fund Unveils Hong Kong Internship Program

Internship positions include engineering, website design, mobile app development, operations and finance.

Hong Kong, Feb. 18 2016 – The Alibaba Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund today unveiled details of its previously announced Hong Kong Internship Program, which offers qualified college students the opportunity to work for 6-12 months at Alibaba Group’s headquarters in Hangzhou or in the group’s Guangzhou office. Interns are expected to learn skill sets and acquire knowledge in the e-commerce sector and gain first-hand working experience in the China market.

Ms. Cindy Chow, Executive Director of the Alibaba Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund, commented: “Through this internship program, Hong Kong students will have the chance to learn the latest industrial practices in e-commerce, mobile payment, cloud computing and cross-border logistics in China by working at Alibaba Group or companies in the Alibaba ecosystem. We hope this real-world exposure will inspire students to innovate and to expand their horizons by exploring entrepreneurial as well as working opportunities in China. The valuable internship experience in China should also help Hong Kong students enhance skills for their career development and help them achieve their dreams.”

The internship program offers positions in fields including engineering, website design, mobile app development, product development, operations, finance, human resources and copywriting. The program is open for applications from full-time students currently studying Year 3 and Year 4 as well as masters degree at tertiary education institutions in Hong Kong. Interested students must submit their application materials online through by March 11. The Fund will arrange written tests and face-to- face interviews for selected applicants.

The first group of students is expected to begin their internship in early June. Placements are for six months, but some internship may be extended to 12 months under certain circumstances. During this period, the Fund will provide interns with mentoring and hotline support, knowledge-sharing sessions and financial support including living and housing allowances.

Alibaba Group announced the official launch of its Hong Kong Entrepreneurs Fund in November, with the objective of supporting the aspirations of entrepreneurs who wish to take advantage of the resources offered by the Alibaba ecosystem in e-commerce, logistics, mobile platforms, cloud computing and financial services. The Fund is a not-for-profit initiative of Alibaba Group.
